The Salvation Army is an international church and charity that works to show love and support to thousands of people in more than 130 countries.
We are looking for a café assistant to work 8.15am - 4.15pm with an hour lunch break , Monday to Friday, who will form part of the team within our community hub here in Jersey. Hours could become flexible with the possibility of working extra hours.
Our Community Hub consists of a community café, charity shop, and meeting room facilities where groups and activities are held. We strive to be a safe place where all are welcome.
The café offers practical support including our free soup every day, as well as signposting, crisis support, pastoral care and friendship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taking and completing food and drink orders
- Operate till, handle cash, cash up the till
- Prepare food and drinks to a high standard
- Wait on tables, clear tables and use the dishwasher
- Prepare and suggest ideas for the café menu, looking at cost effective and local supplier options
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
- Provide excellent customer service for our café customers, service users and those accessing support from other agencies within our building.
- Work alongside volunteers in the café and work closely with anyone undertaking placements with us.
- It is important that the candidate understands the needs of customers.
